Balsher Singh Sidhu biography

Balsher Singh Sidhu is a Ph.D. candidate and Liu Scholar at the Institute for Resources, Environment, and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia University in Vancouver, Canada.

Sidhu’s current research focuses on the relationship between climate variability and agriculture using high resolution spatiotemporal climate and crop yield data. The goal is to propose irrigation strategies that can improve crop yields while minimizing the adverse environmental impacts. He is a recipient of UBC’s Four-Year Fellowship as well as the NSERC Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.

Before coming to UBC, Balsher completed his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, followed by a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto where he worked on advanced technologies for drinking water treatment.
