Debbie Cherney biography

Debbie Cherney is a Professor of Forage Utilization and Quality Nutritionist in the Department of Animal Science at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. She is also a fellow at theTata-Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition (TCI), a long-term research initiative focused on solving problems of poverty, malnutrition, and rural development in India. Her program aims to improve the profitability of forage/livestock operations, while at the same time minimizing any negative effects of forage crops on the environment. Many of her studies have involved evaluating or improving laboratory or in vitro techniques to assess forage quality, the goal of this effort being to improve and standardize routine laboratory methodology. She has published over 250 peer reviewed papers, chapters, and proceedings, and co-edited a popular book on forages, Grass for Dairy Cattle.

Cherney received her Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the University of Florida.
